Immigration News

After over three years my immigration status in the U.S. has been resolved in my favour. Below is the message I received from my immigration lawyer this afternoon.

"Just received order reopening and terminating your case with prejudice to the Department. Congratulations!!! You won!!!"

And this is what he posted on Facebook to the general public.
"Just received order from immigration court in Cleveland, Ohio reopening and terminating deportation proceedings on behalf of one of the most patient, understanding, and deserving clients that I have ever represented. So happy to FINALLY get this result. #VICTORY"
There is still some paperwork to be done but at least I'm free to cross the border again. We definitely won't be going any time soon though.

  3. Good for you. What a circus! How can it possibly have taken that long? Do you get to sue them for your costs!!!

    1. When you're dealing with Government, specifically Homeland Security, things can take forever. No, not sueing for costs, that would be throwing good money after bad in this case.

  4. Oh, My Heavens!! You can go see those grandkids in Ohio before they graduate High School........ I would never have thought the USA could have been so unfair........... And there was absolutely nothing that any of us could do about it.... Anyway congratulations..... But I would understand if you never came back... Rod

    1. We have certainly discussed never coming back but it would be a shame to spend all that money and not use the freedom I got.

  7. Please don't ever try to sue the U.S. Govt. I know someone who thought he was being clever by sueing to get his green card and he was promptly deported. I think he can apply for entry into the U.S. after 7 years, but it's a risky move for anyone to make, much less a non-citizen. I'm so glad you finally got this behind you, and that you were vindicated.

  10. Wow.. that sure took a long long time to resolve itself. I can not believe that they would have held that paperwork snafu against you in the first place for no good reason. Geesh

  12. Finally, that long frustrating issue has be resolved for you. What a bad thing that all was & I remember your shock, surprise, & frustration when that happened. You & Gordon have probably re-adjusted your priorities now but am wondering if you are maybe thinking about another RV again & some future Snow Bird travels. The Desert awaits Gordon's camera........:))

  15. Very good news. Now for the next hurdle... Medical travel insurance!!! Good luck for that too. I started following your Blog when I first heard of your Border problem thinking it would be resolved quickly. How wrong I was. Anyhow it is finished now and you can travel to the States again IF you want too.

  16. Excellent news for you guys.
I heard about this on Al's site.
Has always been a fear we have , being denied entry on our way south.

Hopefully you will want to travel again.

    1. We won't be buying another RV for travel. Will probably just visit relatives in the U.S. occasionally.

  19. Grand news - a decision long overdue. So sorry my government has behaved in such a pig-headed fashion. They almost didn't allow my wife and I to return the last time we visited Canada. Whereas, all your guys wanted to know was whether we had sufficient funds for our stay.

Don't let this ugliness keep you from visiting your family. Then the SOB's will have won and that isn't a tolerable outcome.
