Sunday December 6,, 2009-Another Quiet Day

The temperature was -5C (23F) when I bundled up and headed out for my walk this morning. It was cloudy but the sun did come out later in the day.

I tried to reach my sister around noon to see if they were going to be home but there was no answer so I headed out to pick up a few groceries.

The rest of the day was spent reading. I just finished a Lee Child book. I really like his Jack Reacher series.

Tonight we're doing a roast of beef, baked potatoes (for those that can have them) and peppers and onions. I'm having carrots too since I can't have potatoes and I'm pretty fed up with quinoa.

We reached a high of 2C (36F) which was higher than forecast.

  1. Sandra, I am impressed with your hardiness getting out and walking in temperatures that low. You couldn't drag me out the door on a morning like that, although I'm sure you feel much better after a walk.

  2. I sure agree with you on Lee Child books. I think I read about every one of his. Most of them I had as audio books. It was cold here too and is supposed to get colder. Glad I am not on the Prairies though.

Can you get buckwheat up there? Millet? Might give you a bit of a diff flavor. Do you have a milk substitute? I've tried this recipe a couple of times. http://www.recipezaar.com/crunchy-peaches-and-cream-quinoa-369453
I didn't use the nuts. I would imagine you could use a variety of fruit. I'm not sure if it is one you can convert to foods you can have, but thought I would mention it. :)
