Last night just at dinnertime we had a beautiful rainbow that lasted for quite a while. Here's one of the photos that I took.
Unfortunately this made dinner late resulting in me eating too fast and getting an upset stomach for my efforts so I didn't sleep well.
Today was a beautiful day which I mostly wasted napping on the couch. I did manage to get up this afternoon and go into Lindsay as we needed a few groceries and some water. I've been trying to consume more water than I usually do, consequently we are going through a lot of water bottles!
Here's a panorama that my husband took. As you can see it turned out to be a double rainbow!

About Yo Yos
Okay, I'm not talking about the ones that you do 'walk the doggie' with. I'm talking about the ones made from cloth. I've been making yo yos for years. It's a hobby that's fairly compact and you can take pretty much anywhere. I used to make them on cruises, on airplanes and even traveling in vehicles but I lost interest somewhere a few years ago. Anyway when we started our Odyssey, I did bring them along so today I got them out. I also have some books on what to do with yo yos so I decided to start a yo yo quilt. I sorted the yo yos into basic colors and then started putting together quilt blocks. I made two green ones and most of a purple one today before my fingers and my back decided that was enough for this time.
Will I finish the quilt? The jury's out on that one. I don't really like sewing. That's one way I don't take after my mother. And yo yos require hand sewing, even worse! And if I do finish it, will it stay together? Not betting on that one! But it's kept me occupied for most of today while it rained on and off.
For anyone interested in how to make a yo yo, click here.
Here's a photo of one of my yo yos:

And there was only one casualty when I stuck the seam ripper into my finger. OUCH!

Just Hangin' Around
We just stayed home today reading, surfing and relaxing. It was a mostly cloudy day and it looked like rain but hadn't up until this posting. Our high was around 17C (63F) and tomorrow is supposed to be cooler than today although it is to get warmer and sunnier on the weekend.
I did manage to walk this morning for my 30 minutes but that was about it for the exercise today other than vacuuming. I also packed away some summer clothes and got out some Fall ones.
No photos today so here's one I took yesterday at the Ken Reid Conservation area of an apple in the water.

Dentist & Ken Reid Conservation Area
The new season of all my TV shows is starting this week. YEAH! I was getting really tired of reruns, consequently I was spending a lot of time on the rv-dreams chat room. The last two nights I haven't been on it at all!
Last evening around our dinner time the rains came. It rained heavily for a period of time and we had some thunder and lightning but not close although the power did go out once very briefly. Then around 1:30 a.m. it poured. I went back to sleep so not sure how long it rained but it was very heavy.
This morning I had a dentist appointment in town. My periodontist had found a small cavity when I was there last week and since we were leaving immediately after that appointment to return to Lindsay I didn't call my own dentist. I found a dentist here, called and got an appointment for today so now I have a dentist in Lindsay. I also got the name of a chiropractor which one of the girls in the dental office recommended so that could be handy. There aren't a lot of doctors taking patients in the area. There are a couple of new ones that came to Peterborough last year that are accepting patients. I guess they have offices around the area. If we're going to be spending a lot of time in the area it might be worthwhile. Will have to ponder that.
The dentist froze me and it didn't take any time at all to fill the cavity however it took four hours for the freezing to leave my face. While I was at the dentist, Gordon got his hair cut and picked up some stuff at Bulk Barn. He was just coming out of Bulk Barn when I called him to come and pick me up.
After the dentist, we went to the Ken Reid Conservation Area which is just outside of Lindsay. We haven't spent much time there and each time we take a drive in, we say that we have to come back. Although today we did go for a walk along the boardwalk and Gordon walked down to the beach, we still have to go back. There are lots of trails there. Here are some photos that we taken in the conservation area.
And the one below I took at the campground when I got back during my walk.

Unexciting Day
Today's been a mixed bag as far as weather is concerned. It was hazy, hot and humid all day but there was a breeze so sitting outside wasn't too bad. We also had some rain on and off and a bit of sun here and there.
Late this morning I went in to Lindsay to pick up some groceries. I stopped at the mall plus four other stores, two of which were grocery stores. When I came back, I sat outside and read for a while.
Not a lot to report today!

Road Trip
Since Gordon was feeling better today and it was such a beautiful day we decided to go north of Lindsay on Hwy 35 to see if the leaves were turning. We stopped in Minden (Ontario) at the Tourist Bureau to get some information but Gordon already had our route planned out. We drove toward Haliburton (Ontario) along a pretty lake however there was no place to pull off and take any photos which always aggravates Gordon. We did manage to get some photos however one of which are the leaves across Cranberry Lake shown above. It was early yet for the leaves to be really beautiful but then with the dry summer we've had who knows if they will!
This is another pretty river but unfortunately I didn't see a name for it anywhere.
After driving north from Haliburton to Eagle Lake and then back to Hwy 35, we drove north to Hawk Lake Log Chute which is pictured above behind me.
It was another bright, sunny day with clear blue skies and a high of 26C (79F). A really lovely day for the 2nd day of Fall!

Brunch & More Relaxing
1:00 CAD = 0.999101 USD
From xe.com
This is good news for us as Canadian Snowbirds heading south for the winter but not good news for Canadian tourism and the Canadian manufacturing sector. However, for right now, I'm happy about it! It's taken three decades or more to happen! As a child I remember going shopping in the U.S. as we were very close to the border and our dollar was worth more than the U.S. dollar at one point but that was a lot of years ago.
This morning after my walk, we got ready to meet Betty and Garth at the Lindsay Golf & Country Club for brunch. The Lindsay Golf Club used to be in downtown Lindsay where the shopping mall is now. They sold the land so that the mall could be built and the new golf course is now at Lindsay Road and Hwy 7. We've never been there so it was a new experience and okay, not great however the food did agree with Gordon.
After brunch Betty and I sat outside for a while while Garth went to the putting green and Gordon went to take some photos. When Gordon came back we left Betty and Garth and went into town to do a few errands then back to the RV where I went for another walk and then sat outside under the awning for a while.
It was a nice, bright, sunny day but on the cool side with a high of 22C (72F). Here's a photo I took in the park of the autumn leaves on one of the trees.
